This part of Osaka lies south of Shinsaibashi subway station, which is on the Midosuji line, and is a part of the lively night scenes in Osaka. The narrow streets along this area are crowded with hostess bars, discos, and pubs, all of which come alive at night. A huge amusement centre, Dotombori offers wall-to-wall restaurants and is situated along the south bank of the Dotombori Canal.
Almost every building in this area has three to four floors of restaurants with prices ranging from reasonable to sky-high. Competition is high among the restaurants and many often promote their establishments through various elaborate ideas.
Along with that, Dotombori also features cinemas and theatres, such as the Bunraku puppet show, which is slowly gaining popularity among the younger generation.
A popular quarter adjacent to Dotombori and Namba is Sennichimae. The area bustles with cinemas, shops, cabarets, and bars. It is definitely a good place to go visit at night! Otherwise known as the American village, this area is filled with trendy shops and restaurants, as well as discreet love hotels.
This unique village encompasses colourful graffiti, a gargantuan Tower Records, the futuristic Wave complex, and the Disney store that offers every child's dream toy! Another scene of interest would be the general ambience of the village, compliments from the motley crowd of Japanese teens who 'hang-out' here.
