We are already organizing a course trip to lovely Guinea for the eighth time! The trip includes Conakry, the capital of Guinea, with its ballet traditions, gigs and concerts, the archipelago off Conakry, Iles de Loos, and the paradise beaches and villages of Bel-Air with their traditions. In Conakry, located on the coast of the Atlantic Ocean, we visit the rehearsals and performances of professional groups and stay close to the cultural eventsof the city center.
Most of the dance lessons will ne also in course accommodation. We will also get to know the paradise islands in front of Conakry and visit the Doundounba festival on the Tamara lighthouse island. On the way back, we stay overnight in the village of Bouramayah, train with a local dance and drum group, and perform at the traditional Guinefare party. Pictures from the last workshop in Guinea. The course is organized by dancer and teacher Lilli Rannikko and Alya Yattar a, a Guinean musician and music teacher living in Finland.
Our course program is based on strong local knowledge and expertise, and our excellent contacts with the Guinean art scene also guarantee access to exactly where the most interesting things of the moment in dance and music are happening! Guinea is part of French-speaking West Africa, where the official language is French. In the capital, Conakry, and in the Bel-Air area, the Susu language is mainly spoken.
Although the course program is quite tight, we tailor it according to the wishes of the course participants within the framework mentioned above. There is also free time in the program, when you can go swimming or shopping depending on the location , and of course there is always the option to take time off from the course program if you feel like it. If you are just starting your dance hobby or want to start it in Guinea what could be a better way than this?! Our course is aimed at both dancers and musicians, and if there are more participants who mainly play music, we will take this into account in the arrangements.
The course students, who mainly come to play music, also get to accompany dance lessons together with local professionals. And if you have a companion who is not into dancing or music, they are also welcome to join you on the trip! You can see a lot more on our course, and for those who are into photography, for example, the trip is a dream destination. Peanut butter sauce is also popular, as are eggs and banana in various forms.
