The paper assesses the challenges faced by street children in accessing primary education in Misungwi District, Mwanza Region. It highlights the impact of urbanization on the rights and well-being of children, examines governmental policies regarding street children, and identifies specific barriers these children encounter in the education system.
Key points include the limited capacity of NGOs to support these children and the socio-economic factors contributing to their plight. The issues of street in PNG demands a detailed research to fully understand the internally displaced street children within the cities most busy hubs. Street children is the term used in this paper but I would rather choose to use the term under privileged or children with special needs. The government, the public and the private sectors at large with other NGOs plus community groups, families and individuals need to come out and address these issues.
If we all act together I believe we can impact their lives to help them start a healthy and new beginning. You never know you have the answer to a world in need, help a child and you will save the future by beginning with small efforts.
Street children are a global socioeconomic malady which is largely based in urban areas particularly in developing countries. Buske confirms that street children is a problem which is more pronounced in developing countries than developed countries. It has sometimes been difficult to define what constitute street children because the concept is socially constructed and due to differences in social, cultural, political and historical differences of different societies.
Simply it can be argued that the term street children has many definitions in different settings. It follows therefore that all children found in or on the street would fall into this category.
