A gymnastics club from Birtley has been acclaimed for its selfless devotion to ensuring the sport can be enjoyed by all. Northern Hope Gymnastics Club took home the Inclusion Impact prize at the British Gymnastics Awards for its decade-long service in providing a welcoming, inclusive environment for children living with disabilities.
The British Gymnastics Awards recognise exceptional people and organisations that help keep gymnastics enjoyable, safe and open to everyone, making a positive contribution to individuals, local communities and wider society. I love it! We knew about two or three weeks ago and it was hard trying to keep it quiet! Having two autistic grandchildren myself, I know how difficult it is for parents to get access to places for them to do what they love.
I love working with them. The British Gymnastics Awards have seen a record-breaking number of nominations this year, focusing on those who have demonstrated a commitment to delivering an uplifting gymnastics experience for all and living the inclusive, aspirational and supportive values of the sport.
Sarah Powell, British Gymnastics CEO, said: "This year, we are thrilled to announce a record-breaking number of nominations for the British Gymnastics Awards, a testament to the extraordinary individuals and organisations that make our sport so special.
Your hard work and commitment inspire us all, and you should be immensely proud of your contributions to our sport.
