So, I have been dating this wonderful guy for awhile now. He is so young and I dont understand why he would choose such a lonely career. I am starting to wonder why when he is away, he takes so long to get in touch with me. I know nothing about a trucker's life. Not that I expect him to text or call while he is drivin. It is unsual for him to be gone for a week,doing a job very far in different states but when he does It feels like he is gone forever though, as I dont know much and I wont bug him asking what does he do when he is away.
He text here and there, but what doe they actually do on their stops? His typical jobs are local, but on weekends and occasionally he is gone for so long. It must be so hard to be a trucker's wife.
Can anybody tell me how is it like? When a violation by either a driver or company is confirmed, an out-of-service order removes either the driver or the vehicle from the roadway until the violation is corrected. Honestly ive never heard of a local driver during the week and a long haul driver on the weekend. Do you know who he works for? There are some companies who will run local freight but then pick up a "rabbit" load for an over the weekend delivery So thats not unusual..
But you have to remember that most truckers are loners by choice. I've been a trucker, and a truckers wife at home. So I know both ends of that story. The best way to handle it is to follow your instincts, and not your heart. Alot of men go into trucking so they have an easy excuse NOT to get into a serious, close relationship.
I don't know if its they don't trust women, or they don't trust themselves, or they have been hurt and don't want that again But they feel that if they are here today, and gone again, then they don't have to make a commitment. I can see their point, in any event. BUT,,,,they need to be honest with whoever they are in a relationship with, so that person can choose to be"friends with benefits" or pass, and go on to find a more permanent relationship for themselves In the end, its all about Honesty And just an FYI You either trust your trucker, or you let them go, and go find a worker, who you can keep tabs on.
