Our youth aquatics program is designed to teach personal water safety, stroke development, and personal growth skills to children. The J offers year-round swim lessons for kids of all ages and abilities. We offer swim classes to ages 12 months to 16 years, as well as beginner adult swim classes.
All lessons are taught by certified instructors and private sessions are offered for both kids and adults, based on availability. Classes must have a minimum of 3 participants in order to run. You will be notified in advance of the class start date if the class is cancelled and given alternative options. Check out the descriptions below! You can also read more about swimming lessons HERE.
This class is designed to provide a joyful, loving, child-centered environment featuring songs and activities to encourage skill acquisition while developing a love of the water. An adult is required to be in the water during this class with each child.
Students must be comfortable putting their faces in the water, back floating with support, and be able to kick up to ten feet with floatation. This class is designed for the older beginner. Students will practice repeated submersion and breath control, flutter kicking on front and back, in-line kicking, and freestyle. Upon graduation, students will be able to swim basic freestyle for 25 feet unassisted, breathing as needed.
Students must be able to swim with face in the water at least 15 ft unassisted, without the aid of a floatation device, lifting the head to breathe as necessary and returning face to the water without hesitation.
