Several years ago, Asian massage parlors began popping up throughout the Asian towns in San Diego and other communities at a very fast pace. You might have guessed it, but an Asian Massage also called Eastern Massage is a broad category used to describe a variety of massages from all over the Asian continent.
This classification typically includes traditional Chinese, Japanese, Thai, Vietnamese, Indian, and other Asian massages. Some examples of these massages are Shiatsu, Thai, Balinese, and Thai. What unifies all Asian massages is that they typically focus on balancing energy meridians and then applying touch to certain points on the body to discover the root of an issue.
Once the issue has been identified, therapists then strike, roll, and apply pressure to reduce inflammation and produce a soothing, relaxing aspect. For even more relief, many Asian massage therapists will recommend Yoga and Tai Chi to complement massage.
To become a massage therapist, they have to undergo hundreds of hours of studying and hundreds of hours of hands-on technique. They also have to pass a rigorous exam and become licensed. And then they primarily make their income directly from their tip. Go ahead and try to tip them a small amount and see what happens. If the therapist knows that they will only make money from the tip, and you tip them a very small amount, the look of disgust that you may get from the therapist could put even the most thick-skinned individual into a very uncomfortable position.
So calling them therapists is definitely a misnomer. Is it clean? If you consider flipping the sheet over in between customers as cleaning, well I guess you can call that clean. They just look at the sheet and if it looks clean then they assume it must be clean. And the easiest way to do that is to save on utilities such as water so washing the sheets and towels turns into a weekly event.
