The review is based on papers presented at a conference organized by the International Organization for Migration, focusing on identifying strengths and weaknesses in current trafficking research. Notably, the review emphasizes the challenges of studying hidden populations, the diversity of sex industries, and the need for more robust research methods and comprehensive data collection across different regions, particularly the Middle East and sub-Saharan Africa.
