Hello Poodle Fanciers: I just wanted to introduce myself. I am a miniature Poodle who tends to be rather independent and a bit quirky. Sadly I do have some unique traits which are the result of my previous home life where a member of the family did not seem to like me for most of my five years in that home.
He tried to have me euthanized twice because I was an inconvenience and had developed unwanted behaviors. I admit I am not your typical lovely, friendly Poodle. So here are some of my quirks: I am unwelcoming and standoffish toward people; incredibly sensitive to what I feel is aggressive or assertive behavior - so my self-protection is to be withdrawn or sometimes bark very assertively; do not enjoy being held and nervous with touched tend to run when someone tries to pick me up or touch me ; I must have an adult home only no children ; I do ok with other mellow, small dogs but prefer to be a one and only to one lone adult human surprisingly, in my foster home, I like my dad - my foster mom is freaky in my opinion ; I do tend to have some separation anxiety when my comrade leaves I sit by the door waiting and whining occasionally ; I require a fenced yard for security reasons; and because I sensed I was unwanted for far too long, I may be considered a bit high strung.
If I find a loving, peaceful home where I am given proper care and kindness, maybe I can become a happy dog. I definitely desire a calm, relaxed owner over the irritated owner of my past.
