The OhioHealth Otolaryngology Residency at Doctors Hospital is a comprehensive five-year program designed for aspiring otolaryngologists. This residency allows participants to develop their medical and surgical skills through diverse clinical experiences, catering to a wide range of ear, nose, and throat care scenarios. The program emphasizes a broad and robust curriculum that covers all facets of otolaryngology. Residents gain practical experience in areas such as pediatric care, rhinology, trauma, facial plastic surgery, and neurotology, facilitated by a dedicated faculty that emphasizes one-on-one patient interactions.
The Doctors Hospital resident clinic operates five days a week, providing a platform for residents to apply their skills in a real-world setting. Hands-on training is a cornerstone of the residency experience, with access to the Audiologic and Vestibular Laboratory, Allergy-Immunology Clinic, and specialized departments such as Radiation Oncology and Voice and Swallow.
These features ensure a comprehensive educational experience that integrates hands-on learning and modern medical practices.
Training within this program includes rotations at both the Doctors Hospital and partner institutions. These collaborations enrich the learning experience, providing residents with exposure to different healthcare environments including Nationwide Children's Hospital, and trauma and plastic surgery programs at OhioHealth Grant Medical Center, as well as the Head and Neck Surgery program at the University of Cincinnati. This multi-site training enhances clinical skills and provides a holistic approach to patient care.
Proactive measures are taken through meetings with the Physician Health and Wellness group, ensuring residents have the resources needed to maintain their mental and physical health throughout their training.
