November 7, 46 Click here for PDF. January 18, Ellie 2. November 27, Thank you, Iowa! It has been a long time since I last blogged. Much has happened in the four years since my last blog post, including that I was elected to my local school board, that I am on the verge of publishing my second book, and that Donald Trump got reelected.
The last point is relevant because the lead-up to the election saw America shift. King and Bobby Kennedy spoke ofβtrue economic opportunity for everyone, dismantling of systems that held people down simply on the basis of skin color or country of birth or because of who they loved or how they identified or a host of other things , and greater compassion for all.
As a result, my work as an inclusion leader skyrocketed. People and organizations were all in to do better. As a result, Americans seemed to have far less kindness and compassion for others. Personally, I have devoted my life as a woman, as Ellie, to spreading compassion around the world.
The election rhetoric has made that goal far more difficult. Professionally, the anti-woke movement has chilled thousands of leaders from engaging in work that would make their organizations more inclusive. As of early , those leaders had totally caved. Now, the one or two who object to inclusion teachings control what happens relative to the entire organization.
