The EP reviews cases of innocence for people who have gone to trial and were found guilty of crimes they did not commit. The EP considers post-conviction cases across the nation for individuals wrongfully convicted of different types of crimes and with different sentence lengths, including cases where a defendant has served their complete sentence or plead guilty. They do NOT consider cases of self-defense. The Heartland Center for Jobs and Freedom handles employment and consumer cases on the behalf of low-wage workers, and provides no-cost legal advice to tenants on housing issues and represents tenants who have been sued for eviction in Jackson County.
Legal Bridge serves clients whose incomes are above the poverty line, but who cannot afford private attorneys by providing low, flat fee and sliding scale services to people above the poverty wage, but below the living wage in Kansas City. Legal Services of Missouri provides legal help to low-income and elderly people in Missouri.
