Among the numerous bills under consideration at the state capital is one to get additonal funding to plug abandoned and orphaned oil and gas wells. State Rep. Brad Boles of Marlow who chairs the house energy committee has filed HB He said there are 1, wells on the Oklahoma Corporation Commission's plugging list and that current funding helps to plug about wells per year. If approved officials could plug nearly 1, wells per year.
Boles has also filed HB which would provide a 50 percent reduction in gross production taxes over three years to companies that assume responsibility for wells designated for plugging. A study done by the Oklahoma Film and Music Office shows film-making is at never-before-seen levels of success thanks to rebates and tax incentives offered by the Filmed in Oklahoma Act.
