I didn't feel great β I had no energy at all. So I thought, 'Ok, something's got to give. It was the best thing I ever did. I used to eat a lot of sandwiches, pasta, sugar and treatsβ¦just a lot of food in general to be honest. But I was always starving because I was eating crap. With that sort of food, the more you eat it, the more you want it β it was a vicious cycle. So I gave up the crap. Initially I felt sick and lethargic, like, 'Oh my god, why am I doing this? But after about a month, I started to feel better.
In fact, I felt incredible, like I was flushed of all the rubbish. I haven't had pasta in about four years! I still have dairy, although not that much. I feel so much better for it. And you know what? I think my healthiness has rubbed off on the rest of the cast β especially when it's summer and we're all being filmed in bikinis!
Although some of the boys eat pies and sausage rolls all dayβ¦and they're still so skinny! It's a bit anal, but I put everything from breakfast to lunch and snacks in tupperware boxes, because I eat those at work on the Neighbours set. In the morning, I have a seed mix β which is just a bunch of healthy seeds β and I put a banana in it, with yoghurt and berries. We start filming super early, at 6am β so I'll eat that while my hair and makeup is done, and then I have a second breakfast three hours later, usually a couple of eggs , avocado , maybe some greens.
It's great because we have our own kitchen on set, so I can heat my food up. Throughout the day I snack on nuts and fruit. Because I'm busy a lot of the time, it's good to have something to pick at β that way I won't be snack on chocolate and sweets all the time. Dinner is usually grilled fish and salad β which I'll grab on the way back after filming. The problem is, most people eat rubbish for the majority of the time β then suddenly decide to be 'healthy' for a day or two! I try and be consistent most of the time.
You don't want to eliminate anything too much β like carbs β because then you'll experience a dip in energy. But although I'm super-healthy most of the time, I make allowances β if it's a special occasion, I'll enjoy a piece of cake, or a glass of wine.
