One Church offers a great resource to engaged couplesβ¦. Prayer is simply the act of talking to God. It is thanking Him for who He is and the gifts and blessings He has given, as well as seeking His council, and bringing requests to Him for ourselves and for others.
What is so powerful about prayer is that it not only is a connection between us and God, but it is a tool in the unseen battle over our world. Prayer really does change things β for ourselves and for those we pray for. Jesus Himself prayed to the Father about his life and for the lives of others when he was on the earth, and instructed us to do the same. Philippians Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.
Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours. And when you stand praying, if you hold anything against anyone, forgive them, so that your Father in heaven may forgive you your sins.
James Is anyone among you in trouble? Let them pray. Is anyone happy? Let them sing songs of praise. Is anyone among you sick? Let them call the elders of the church to pray over them and anoint them with oil in the name of the Lord. And the prayer offered in faith will make the sick person well; the Lord will raise them up.
If they have sinned, they will be forgiven. Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective.
