Wellesley girls are well known for their friendly and supportive nature and real sense of House pride. They push themselves in all areas of Wellington life and, as a result, develop into strong, confident and well-rounded individuals.
Sophia Candappa has taught at the College for 10 years, she joined after graduating from Loughborough University with a BSc in Psychology. She has balanced her teaching with a semi-professional sports career as a netballer for, in recent years, Wasps and Surrey Storm, and previously as an England international. Sophia has involved herself in so many different aspects of school life. At home she lives with her partner Murray, her two children Otis and Wren, and their dog Mikko.
As Housemistress, Sophia is responsible for the running of the House and ensuring that all girls feel welcomed, valued, respected and cared for as individuals during their time in the Wellesley. An environment built on trust where the girls feel listened to is very important to Sophia; and she would like to help nurture a group of girls who are ambitious, aspirational, driven to succeed and supported by the Wellesley family.
The Wellesley is a thriving girls day House consisting of 75 pupils who are fully involved at the heart of Wellington College life.
The day provision at Wellington College is second to none. All girls are encouraged to participate in all that the College has to offer from art, drama and music to social events and sport. Each year group is allocated a work room which provides a locker and desk area for each pupil.
