The search for two signed Sidney Crosby game jerseys, stolen in a Sunday-morning break-in, is heating up after the Cambridge owners said they would reward any tips that lead to their recovery. Once inside the Cowansview Road business, it appears the thieves rifled through filing cabinets and desks in a random search for anything of value. The break-in tripped an alarm but by the time police arrived, the culprits were long gone.
In addition to computers and hard drives the owner believes were the actual targets of the smash and grab, thieves took a professionally-framed and signed Sidney Crosby Pittsburgh Penguins game worn jersey black 87, a professionally-framed numbered and signed Sidney Crosby Team Canada jersey red 87, and a professionally-framed Toronto Maple Leaf collector calendar.
The jerseys were kept in the storage area and were covered up while they were painting the office, said company president Ethan Latimer. A Facebook post asking everyone to be on the lookout for the memorabilia prompted an immediate response with several callers reaching out Sunday after finding what they thought might be the same items for sale on online-classified marketplace Kijiji. Few people beyond business contacts and family members would have seen the jerseys when they were hanging on the wall, he says.

The stolen hard drives contained security camera footage that would have captured the entire incident, Latimer said. Latimer said he may ask around to see if others have security cameras that might have captured activity in the area at the time of the break-in.
Since a similar break-in happened just around the corner from WH Reynolds a few days earlier, Latimer thinks the incidents might prompt beefed up security along the entire road, which is in a fairly remote area off Bishop Street.
