A man accused of sexually abusing children and their mothers in the Portland area used online dating profiles to worm his way into their homes, court records allege.
In court documents, Washington County prosecutors described Arredondo as a drifter who met single mothers through Facebook Dating and sought to quickly move in with them because he was otherwise homeless.
With no attorney available to defend him, prosecutors have filed court motions pressing Oregon Public Defense Services to appoint a lawyer before Arrendondo hits a new court mandate.
A federal judge has ordered Washington County to release indigent defendants 10 days after their arrest if they remain in jail without an attorney. And everything else falls apart. In the second Washington County case, a year-old girl reported being sexually abused by Arredondo in while her mother was at the store, according to court records. Portland police detectives also are investigating Arredondo in the rape of a woman as she was sleeping next to her daughter, and police in Dallas, Oregon are investigating Arredondo in the molestation of a 4-year-old child, according to court records.
