The Minority Leader in Parliament, Alexander Afenyo-Markin, has stated that his members will not be intimidated by the Majority's tactics during the appointment proceedings in Parliament. He observed that the Majority appeared to be attempting to force through some nominees and push them through a rubber-stamp process. Mr Afenyo-Markin described the "verbal attacks" on the Minority and noted that police vigilance was required to escort them out of the chamber safely. He warned the Majority that Parliament was not an extension of their party offices, where they could allow vandalism and bring in party foot soldiers to cause disruption. He urged the Parliamentary Service and the Clerk to urgently strengthen security within the precincts of Parliament and ensure the protection of the Minority so they could carry out their duties.
Mr Afenyo-Markin asserted that the Minority would not allow the Majority to use their so-called "majority" to force their way.
