Bills offensive tackle Dion Dawkins started the movement — and it seems like, maybe, commissioner Roger Goodell is listening. All those titles are reflections on the O-linemen, which are the protectors. There is an award for the best offensive lineman in college football Outland Trophy as well as for the best center Rimington Trophy but nothing of that sort in the NFL.
Just like with the other awards, this only factors in the regular season, not the playoffs. Brown took a major leap forward in his fifth season, and some would argue he was even better than Dawkins.
He only allowed one sack in pass-blocking snaps and ranked 15th in pass-block win rate. He allowed two sacks and zero QB hits in pass-blocking snaps — and only 13 pressures in true pass set snaps. PFF had him graded as the fourth-best guard overall min. One of his best games came against the Eagles in Week 12, when he allowed zero pressures over 47 pass blocking snaps.
He allowed zero pressures in a game seven times. He allowed zero sacks after allowing four last year and only seven total pressures in pass-blocking snaps. He ranked sixth in pass-block win rate, first overall via PFF in pass blocking and run blocking among centers. He ranked second overall, second in run blocking and first in pass blocking if you expand it to include all interior linemen centers and guards.
In true pass sets, he only allowed four pressures. He ranked fifth in pass and run-block win rate and sixth overall by PFF.
