When we understand ourselves and our desires, we access our power. I help you learn what you want, and clear the obstacles out of your way. When the unconscious dictates our thoughts and behaviors, we are adrift in its hidden urges, fears, and conditioning.
Getting to know ourselves brings these mysterious workings into the light, so that we can choose what we do with them. If you're feeling lost at sea, I can help you find your boat and compass. Once you're back at the helm, riding out the waves can be exhilarating! I support a wide spectrum of sexual expression, and welcome diversity. We will go at your pace, and create together a warm environment in which new experiences emerge.
I accompany people on their journeys. I will be with you in your pain and your joy. I prefer swimming in the deep waters: exploring the bigger questions around the meaning of life and death, how to find and maintain fulfilling relationships, how to thrive in our precious, finite time here. I did not come to psychotherapy by linear path. However, I now understand that twisting and deviating from straight routes is a part of our natural world.
Animals meander to search, forage and orient to their surroundings. I like to think of my path in this way. I could start in with my career as a trauma touch therapist, where I tracked stories in the body, following clients' cues to release long-held tension and emotion. I came to this because I needed to heal my own heart and body. I then offered massage therapy for over a decade, listening closely to the communication of our tissues. I could talk about when I felt lost in my own life direction and I sought answers across the globe in a Buddhist monastery.
Stripping away my usual strategies of distraction and avoidance, I starkly faced my fears and longings, and discovered a wise self that had been buried beneath all along. This changed everything. This led me in to the Contemplative Psychotherapy program at Naropa University in Boulder, CO, where I deepened my meditation practice and studied how to work with the mind.
