Carl chose a career in education spanning 32 years. It was here that he met the love of his life, Charlotte Milburn Bethune. Carl and Charlotte married on June 6, In , he received the prestigious Bill Barr Leadership Award, recognizing his outstanding mentorship skills to fellow educators throughout Georgia.
Following his retirement from education, Carl took on a new role as a runner and receptionist at David L. Huguenin Law Firm, where he was known for his warm smile and engaging stories. Carl never met a stranger and never missed an opportunity to spend time with those that he cherished. He was the best Dad to his three children and the best Pappy to his nine grandchildren. Carl was an avid University of Georgia football fan and spent every Saturday cheering on the Dawgs.
