The canvas is then shaved - to obtain an almost smooth surface - and then dyed throughout in red or sunshine yellow. After having been woven, the canvas is washed then shaved — so as to obtain a virtually smooth surface. An initial in-depth treatment then dives it into a bath of fluorinated resin, giving it anti-staining, impermeable and water-repellent properties.
The canvas is afterwards coated on both sides, to ease its upkeep, while keeping its matt look. Without any dye, the beige woven canvas thus keeps its natural, genuine colour. After weaving, the fabric is washed and shaved - in order to obtain an almost smooth surface - and then dyed red, sunshine yellow, navy blue and black through and through, and then immersed in a bath of fluorinated resin, giving it stain-resistant, waterproof and water-repellent properties.
The fabric is then coated on the reverse side only, to preserve its original aspect while facilitating its maintenance and its resistance in time. The treatment of the yellow fabric is the same as that of the linen and cotton woven fabric. The treatment of the yellow canvas is the same as for the linen and cotton woven canvas.
Selected for their solidity, these fibres are then made into a plain weave, which is extremely dense. The result is a fabric that stands up to warping and ripping. This density of the canvas explains the complexity of deep-down dyeing: the way the canvas has been made means that dyes do not easily penetrate it, so that over time or from rubbing white threads can emerge.
This for us is a guarantee of authenticity. This canvas is made of linen and cotton, or just cotton depending on the shade. It is light, supple and resistant, while being also washable, water-repellent and anti-staining thanks to treatments that respect the environment. The articles are then made in our own workshops, in Europe: a rigorous and perfectly coordinated production site means being able to check and master the production of series as well as special orders, within realistic and controllable deadlines.
