Gunther is the curator of the Stardew Valley Museum and Library. He becomes a giftable friend when you donate 60 items to the museum. This also unlocks access to his room at the Museum. Gunther is well read and knows much about the local history of the valley. He understands several languages and spends his free time doing archaeological research and studying scholarly articles written by his colleagues. Gunther also has a hobby of collecting ancient bottles.

In the evening when he leaves the Museum he visits areas around town like the nearby bench, the Saloon, or one of the town bridges. In the summer he sometimes visits the beach, and in the fall the town graveyard. On rainy days and Fridays in the winter he will go to the Saloon to keep warm. Amaranth 1 File:Kale.

When the player enters the museum, Gunther is lamenting a mess left by Jas and Vincent. Gunther sees the player and greets them, apologizing for the mess.
The player can either offer to help Gunther or leave him to do it alone. There is no penalty for not helping, but putting back the books raises Gunther's friendship. Gunther is examining the collection in the museum. He is in awe of the possible knowledge they hold, and gives credit to your efforts gathering them. He asks you to use this knowledge to answer the question: "What is the history of Stardew Valley?
