Your training will take place at two progressive, tertiary care medical centers totaling over 1, patient beds. Sanford and Avera Health Systems serve as major referral centers for a large geographic region including South Dakota and neighboring states.
This ensures you will encounter patients with very complex, challenging clinical conditions. This is largely due to the protected time for self-study, research, and fun. Our model allows for weekends off during ambulatory blocks and most electives.
Our program is small enough so that all the residents know each other very well. Most of the residents usually live close by and get together outside of work too. The program sponsors social events throughout the year that allows the residents to pick fun activities for everyone to join in on. The talented attending physicians enjoy teaching.
In addition to regularly scheduled didactics, you will learn from them in a friendly environment often in a one-on-one setting.
