However once it landed in Geneva one hour and 45 minutes later, six police officers boarded the plane to take two passengers off the aircraft. A traveller who watched the scenes unfold told BirminghamLive he had "never seen anything like it.
The popular budget airline, which flies to multiple destinations from its base at Birmingham Airport, told BirminghamLive that officers in Geneva boarded the plane to deal with two passengers who were "behaving disruptively onboard. The easyJet traveller, who wished to remain anonymous claimed that prior to the flight a group of travellers were playing drinking games in a pub in the terminal, being "rude to bar staff" and getting increasingly disruptive. The traveller, who is in Geneva to enjoy a snowboarding holiday, said that he was sat a distance from the group while the plane was airborne, but claimed that disruptive behaviour was taking place.
He explained: "When we landed in Geneva we pulled into the gate we got an announcement that said 'please remain seated and do not remove your seatbelts'. Four of the group were definitely still on it.
There were quite a few disgruntled passengers at the the delay getting off. You don't expect that I have never seen anything like it. Whilst such incidents are rare we take them very seriously and do not tolerate abusive or threatening behaviour onboard. However, customers travelling through BHX can be reassured that the airport works closely with all third parties including the police, airlines and food and beverage retailers to minimise any issues of potential passenger disruptive behaviour.
