But even before then, Christy Lee and Anastasia Tapper had a plan. For three years, the duo had been working to open their own spa franchise. So they refocused on offering clients a more relaxing experience.
The Texas-based company has franchise locations across the country, including five in Indiana. Lee and Tapper plan to open a Granger franchise at E. University Drive in the coming weeks. The new, 6,square-foot space features a relaxation room, locker rooms, 18 service rooms and a large front entry for retail.
From the minute a guest steps in the door and is wrapped in a cloth robe, the owners say they want guests to feel welcome, relaxed and pampered. The spa offers 70 different treatments varying between massages, facials and skin and nail treatments. Massages include a therapeutic stone massage, a four-handed massage where two therapists work on a guest , a duet massage for two clients and a massage for expecting mothers. Facials, skin and nail care services range from an organic seaweed leaf wrap to a wild lavender and seaweed sugar glow.
Special packages for couples and bridal or baby parties will be available once the business becomes more established. Woodhouse Day Spa also sells retail items such as Mustard Seed jewelry, pajamas, robes and the same skin care lines that the spa uses during its services. They are also open to working with local businesses and nonprofits to offer retail goods and events throughout the year. Lee said the services are available for all ages and sexes and that men, surprisingly enough, consist of about 30 percent of business across other Woodhouse spas.
There are separate male and female locker rooms as well as male specific services, but overall, the services are inclusive. Gift cards from other spas cannot be honored at Woodhouse, Lee said, noting it is a company policy and she is sympathetic about. Remedy opened in March at South Bend Ave.
